CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION

The Australasian Law Awards proudly returns in 2021 to recognise the region’s leading law firms, in-house legal teams, individuals, deals and cases over the past year. It’s a true reflection of excellence in the legal profession.

Leading firms, in-house legal teams, and lawyers are encouraged to nominate across 30-plus categories and be recognised for their achievements and outstanding work. Submissions will be reviewed by an esteemed independent judging panel.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we won’t be able to run a face-to-face gala dinner in 2021. While we’re disappointed that we’re not going to be seeing you at our face-to-face event, we’ve come up with a unique format to recognise and celebrate excellence across the Australasian legal profession. Excellence awardees will be announced in Australasian Lawyer and online channels on 20 May. Gold winners will be revealed at the highly anticipated virtual ceremony on Thursday 17 June 2021.

Nominations for the 2021 Awards are now closed. Excellence Awardees will be announced online on the 20th May, while Gold Winners will be announced at a live virtual event on the 17th June. More info to follow.

LOD – Lawyers On Demand has seen enormous change in the past year, with Sandra Gibson,Australian Managing Director being at the forefront of these exciting changes.

The first cross-continent merger between NewLaw providers, LOD (UK) and AdventBalance (APAC) started trading globally as LOD in October 2016, creating one of the world’s largest flexible legal service providers with over 600 lawyers and consultants in 8 locations worldwide.

Sandra was instrumental to the merger, the seamless transition between the two businesses and its overall success. She has also been key in driving a number of initiatives across the Australian business.

Within weeks of completing the merger Sandra led the collaboration with DLA Piper by launching the flexible resourcing capability in Australia.  This arrangement allows DLA to bypass the need to build their own flexible lawyer business by outsourcing the requirements to LOD.

Constantly assessing the market and ensuring we remain innovative and responsive, Sandra rolled out our ‘On Call’ offering in Australia, allowing a much broader range of solutions for our clients and lawyers.

She also led a team in creating our hugely successful In-House Legal Women Of Influence Program.  A forum for women in senior in-house legal roles to share ideas, issues and solutions to the challenges of working as an in-house lawyer.

Sandra contributes thought leadership pieces, adding value to lawyers and clients alike across a range of topics.

Under Sandra’s leadership, LOD’s Australian business continues to be successful and seen as a catalyst for change in the legal industry.
